PAST PROJECTS/EVENTS

  • Kiss-a-senior-goodbye!
One of GHS Key Club's routine end-of-the-year fundraisers, we said 'goodbye' to the graduating '03 class with Hershey's Kisses and thoughtful notes and managed to raise some money for our club as well.

  • Flowers for Matthew
Another project for our HOLT International Child, now in its second year. We made paper flowers to sell and put up in the library as a means for raising funds for Matthew.

  • "Make a Home for Matthew"
This project was conceptualized as a means to raise money for our HOLT International child, Matthew. We made a cardboard version of a Gingerbread house, and one person at a time took it around to collect signatures. For each signature collected there was a suggested donation. The signatures formed the contours of the gingerbread house.

  • Beef Jerky Fundraiser
This project was done in order to raise simple administrative funds.

  • Kiwanis Barbecue!
Central Seattle Kiwanis Club, which is the Kiwanis Club that directly supports our Key Club, had its annual barbecue on Saturday, May 3, 2003 from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. All funds went directly to support GHS Key Club--great deal! Good food and a great reason to come, thanks to all the Key Clubbers who represented!

  • March of Dimes (Major Emphasis Project!) - Saturday, April 26, 2003
Wow. The March of Dimes 2003 is over, and it was a blast. Not only was it a fun bonding experience, we also helped saved premature babies! To find out more info for next year, visit March of Dimes Greater Puget Sound Division.

  • Northwest Harvest - Saturday, March 15, 2003

  • Union Gospel Mission - Saturday, March 1, 2003
At this event our Key Clubbers worked positions at the Union Gospel Mission, in the heart of Pioneer Square, Downtown.

  • Valentine's Book Collection
Over the months of January and February we collected books and teddy bears in Valentine's Day-themed boxes placed all over the Language Arts classrooms of GHS. We distributed the books to First Place, and the teddy bears will be donated at this year's District Convention.

  • MADD Ribbon Distribution
We gave out MADD ribbons to show our support against drunk driving.

  • US West Holiday Carousel - Saturday, December 14, 2002 4pm-10pm
One of the most fun projects of the year, in this project our Key Clubbers worked the Downtown holiday carousel.

  • Trick-or-treating for UNICEF (Major Emphasis Project!)
A big thanks to all those participated. This year Garfield's UNICEF collection was a smash! We garnered more than $500 for UNICEF, an organization of the United Nations that is aimed specifically for children.

  • KCTS Telethon - Saturday, September 28, 2002
GHS Key Clubbers were picking up the phones at the KCTS Telethon.
